Solstice Drumming

2024-04-23 15:00 2024-04-23 16:00 America/Halifax Solstice Drumming

https://www.meetup.com/Songsbetweenheavenandearth/events/282343117/ Come to Drum! Open to ALL, this Drum Circle celebrates and honors the past, the present and the future–from the positive to the challenging, and everything in between. We will be approaching the Winter Solstice, so we will feel those energies of the earth as we gather. Between now and then, consider what intentions within your heart, what efforts you want to bring to set and what needs to find a place of rest. This shall hopefully be an outdoor event, weather permitting at the fire pit. We will begin at 3pm, and requesting participants to arrive around 2:45p, if possible. This will allow time to unload from both your travel and your day, an effort that honors the gathering and everyone there, and especially yourself. Quiet reflection followed by a ceremonial opening of the Circle will begin at 3p. Then–Drumming for an hour–with the closing of the Circle around 4p. If the weather is wet or below freezing, we shall hold the circle indoors in the Great Room.  The map is in the Meetup link, and the Retreat Center is at 1564 Telegraph Road, West Chester, PA 19382. For your personal comfort, please bring along whatever might be beneficial for you, such as water, chairs, blankets/hats/scarves (layers!) for warmth, etc. Rest rooms will be available. Masks are not required outdoors, spacing as appropriate. Masks will be required indoors. It is BYOD (bring your own drum), and people can also bring along any other instrument. If you do not have any instrument or drum–know that you are doubly blessed by the effort of just bringing yourself. There will be a few extra drums available. All are welcome, especially children! The effort of gathering with loving intention is one of the best gifts for us all at this time of year. Donations for this Drum Circle are not expected, yet are appreciated–and will benefit the Temenos Retreat Center– in honor especially of our beloved friend and starter of this group, Christine Campbell: “Above All Else, Love” The Meetup Group, Songs Between Heaven and Earth, was founded by Rev. Christine Campbell in 2009.  For over a decade, Christine invited others to come and drum for personal health, for the Earth and as a prayer for the world. In the Spring of 2021, Jennifer Lipski, a friend of Christine’s and fellow drummer, volunteered to organize seasonal drum circles in Christine’s memory and to benefit the Temenos community. About our Host: Jennifer Lipski is a SunMoon and Drum Dancer based in southeastern Pennsylvania. She is a student of the Drum; her teacher is Drum Chief Benito Rael, brother of Joseph Rael Beautiful Painted Arrow. Jennifer became as surgical trauma nurse (RN) over twenty years ago, and currently works in home health care.  She has her MA in Transpersonal Psychology, is certified in Grief Support, and recently served on the Pastoral Care Advisory Committee at PennMedicine.  Jennifer is a certified yoga teacher, and studied meditation in Melbourne, Australia from 2014-2016.  She enjoys boxing workouts, hiking, spending time with her animal and nature friends, making art, cooking for her family, and bringing the magic of the […]
